Spot and futures
Spot XAUUSD is the cash ounce. Futures, such as COMEX GC, are a dated contract.

They track each other and they are not the same order. A futures contract has an expiry. A spot CFD has a financing charge instead. Buyndsell talks about the spot symbol.
